Curriculum
Following the liberalization of trade and investment around the world, business management has no longer been confined to the domestic market. In fact, cross-national investment and trade has already become a trend in the twenty-first century. To meet the needs of the booming international businesses as well as to set up the foundation of international business management in the future, fostering such management talents has at present become the focus of both the public and private sectors in every nation of the world.
The curriculum of Department of International Business (thereafter called DIB) can be categorized into general curriculum and professional curriculum. The former places an emphasis on developing student character and interpersonal communication skills, while the later is aimed at enhancing students’ professional skills and fundamental abilities of doing further study.
Both the undergraduate and graduate programs mainly include foundations in economics and trade as well as business management. Therefore, in the undergraduate program, in addition to professional and theoretical courses such as “theory of international trade and money”, “microeconomics”, “macroeconomics”, “business management”, “currency and banking”, in order to help students understand international business strategies and operations, DIB also offers related courses in “international financial management”, “international marketing management”, “international investment decision-making”, “international business management”, “international trade practice”, “international trade English”, “international trade Japanese”, “English business communication” and “seminar of special topics on economy and trade.”
Furthermore, the graduate program is aimed at fostering mid- and high-level international business management talents who are equipped with abundant knowledge in academic theories and practical experiences; therefore, the curriculum design encompasses courses in theories, practice and research methods so as to strengthen students’ fundamental knowledge and independent research abilities and eventually, to enhance the development potential and enhance the competitiveness of domestic enterprises in the global market.
The EMBA program is also aimed at fostering mid- and high-level international business management talents. In addition to helping students understand the situations of industry, the program also emphasizes on broadening students’ insight in cross-national business operations and management and strengthening students’ planning abilities. Therefore, the curriculum design encompasses courses in theories, practice and research methods so as to strengthen students’ fundamental knowledge and independent research abilities and eventually, to enhance the development potential and the competitiveness of domestic enterprises in the global market.
